The “Hangout”

At the center of our campus is the large concrete building that was completed around 1910.  This building has housed many children over the years, even prior to this campus becoming Childhaven in 1949.  The building can no longer house children, that is done in the 9 houses on our campus.  It does, however, house our administrative offices, provide meeting/training space, and have a large dining area for campus wide get togethers.  There is a side entrance to this building that provided the perfect space for us to create a place for our residents to “hang out” outside of their respective homes.  Residents are able to play games, enjoy snacks, watch movies, and just have their own space.  A generous donation from Artesia Systems Group, Inc. made this possible. The space was dedicated in summer of 2023 and was provided in loving memory of Dawn Mullins Long.
